Dancersend walk

Yellow Flower
Yellow Flower

Another great day, so went for a walk round Dancersend, the same walk I did a couple of weeks ago but the other way round, which is a better way to do it. Wood Pigeon, Pheasant, Rook, Blue Tit, Magpie, Jay, Chaffinch, Long-tailed Tit, Great Tit, Red Kite, Yellowhammer, Black-headed Gull, Robin (13). Yellowhammers seem to stay where they are, again today I saw them when I had seem them before.

The Swan again

Dog woman

Yes the Swan is a great place to start a walk because you can finish with a pint. Red Kite, Rook, the usual flock of Yellowhammers, Magpie, Great Tit, Wood Pigeon, Chaffinch, Skylark, Robin, Blackbird, Mallard, Long Tailed Tit, Jay, and Blue Tit. (11) Finished off in the pub with a pint of Rebellion, from the Marlow Brewery (Est 1993) and a Mexican style veggie burger. The weather is fantastic it feels like a bank holiday should.

Rock Pipit (Scandinavian)

Dead fish

On the way to work got a text claiming a Scandinavian Rock Pipit at Wilstone Reservoir. I was less than a mile away and was early for work so I headed on down to the reservoir. The car park was empty, which considering the text was timed 5 minutes earlier is strange.

Anyway I went up the steps to have a look, looking along the concrete beach around the edge of the water near the steps all I could see were a couple of Pied Wagtails, just just as I was giving up I noticed a small brown job, which looked a lot like a Pipit.

Apparently the Scaninavian one gets lumped in with Rock Pipit so I dont think it would count on the life list, but I haven’t seen a Rock Pipit this year so it makes it onto the 2009 list. If you want to know what one looks like try this Google image search (1 YTD 70)

I’d rather be out walking

Footpath sign

Another luchtime walk, it helps clear the mind. Took a walk down the new bridleway, it is very ugly and not half as good as walking donw the stretch towards Aylebury.

Spring is here

Colts foot

Weather here in Buckinghamshire as taken a turn for the better, sun is shining and the temperatures are up. Found some flowers at lunchtime, when I wnt for a quick walk, I haven’t a clue what they are. Answers on a postcard please. They are not Dandelions or Celendines.

Clitheroe

Bridge

I had never been to Clitheroe until today. Had to go there for a meeting today. Went to my brothers on Sinday and sent time with my niece and nephew, so that the journey would not be so long today. The town is at the foot of a lot of lovely looking hills, and the scenery and grand.

Young Victoria ****

Young Victoria film poster

Young Victoria is a film about the first turbulent years of the reign of Queen Victoria.
The best thing about the film is the politics and interplay between all the characters. The are some great shots, one where the young Victoria glides across a room with the camera staying the same distance relative, so the background disappears, an effect similar to the famous zoom in and move away shot of a scene in Jaws. then there is a shot if Victorin in a cathedral which is stunning while just being a very drab image. I would recommend this film.
